CANADA'S RISING POP STAR TO SHINE AT PRIDE
by: Lisa Darden, Thorn Records

Vancouver's Matthew David will be headlining the upcoming Wisconsin Capitol Pride. The openly gay singer/songwriter came out publicly with his debut album Masquerade last year and created a stir in the music scene with his smooth rock vocals, strong inspiring lyrics and impressive contemporary pop/rock arrangements. He received radio play immediately after pre-releasing the first single off the album, and quickly began growing an international fanbase.

Matthew was catapulted to the world stage this past Winter when his song "Today" was featured as the official anthem for Olympic Venue City, Richmond BC, during the 2010 Olympic Games. A large-scale music video was produced and seen by thousands in Vancouver and all over the world.

"It was amazing that I was given such a platform during the Games - even as an openly gay artist," Matthew recalls. "It actually never came up as any sort of issue, which is a great sign for all of us."

Follow up music video for album-favorite Turns To Gold is to be released September 7, 2010.

On Saturday, August 21st for the first time since his Olympic flurry of performances, Matthew will be lighting up the Pride Main Stage at 5:15pm. He will be followed by American Idol Season 1's RJ Helton at 6:15. Look for Matthew David and RJ Helton's car in the Pride Parade on Sunday August 22nd.
